Board of Assessors

Meets 4th Wednesday 5:00 p.m. in the Assessor's Office at the Memorial Town Complex.

The Administrative Assistant's hours are Monday-Wednesday Noon-4:00; the Interim Principal Assessor can be seen by appointment only.

The Board of Assessors is responsible for the valuation of real and personal property for the purpose of levying the property tax. The Assessors are also responsible for submitting the tax rate recapitulation sheet to the Department of Revenue. Assessors have the authority to grant abatements and exemptions to taxpayers, subject to the authority provided by State law. 

The Board of Assessors is elected by the voters and the Principal Assessor is hired as an employee by the Board of Assessors.
