Steps for Project Approval

  1. If you are unsure if your project falls under the jurisdiction of the Conservation Commission, submit a Request for Determination of Applicability MassDEP form to the MassDEP Central Regional Office and bring 2 copies to the Conservation Commission meeting.
  2. If you are sure that your project falls within 100 feet of wetlands, you must seek project approval from the Conservation Commission. Submit a Notice of Intent MassDEP form to the MassDEP Central Regional Office (online or via mail) and bring 2 copies to the Conservation Commission meeting.
  3. After the Commission reviews your Notice of Intent, you must schedule a Public Hearing. Public Hearings must be published in the local newspaper (by the proponent). Submit a Public Hearing Notice (found on the Commission’s website) to your local newspaper at least two weeks prior to your scheduled Public Hearing. You must also notify your abutters by mail of your public hearing.
  4. During your Public Hearing, the Commission will review your project. After the Commission’s review, you will receive an Order of Conditions.
