Then and Now
The Maples

1910 (Approximate)
At the turn of the 20th century many industrial communities had apartment buildings and boarding houses, mostly to house the many factory workers and their families. “The Maples”, located at the intersection of East Main Street and Evergreen Street was one of these boarding houses. Few details are available but like so many houses of the time it probably offered a single room, usually for one person and may have been rented by the week. Many of these houses had a shared bathroom on each floor. Some offered meals.
This home eventually became a private residence and was part of the Wagner chicken and vegetable farm. It is now owned by Lamoureux Ford.

Sept 2008 This house was the boarding house known as "The Maples". This is now owned by Lamoureux Ford and much of the land us used as their parking area for new and used cars.
