Then and Now
The Hedges


1910
(Approximate) The Hedges was considered a landmark in East Brookfield, mainly by the street railway companies as a stopping point along their route. This landmark was located at the intersection of East Main Street and Pleasant Street. Like many points of interest in town, the Hedges were displayed on post cards. Today all evidence of the Hedges is gone.

If you close your eyes you might imagine East Brookfield residents on the trolley going to work or returning from a day of shopping.

Sept 2008 There has been many changes over the years. It is not clear how many buildings are located on the left side of the road around 1910 since they are hidden by "The Hedges" in the photo above.
