Board of Assessors
Meets 2nd & 4th Mondays 6:30 p.m.in the Memorial Town Complex.
The
Board of Assessors is responsible for the valuation of real and personal
property for the purpose of levying the property
tax. The assessors are also responsible for submitting the tax rate recapitulation
sheet to the Department of Revenue. Assessors also have the authority
to grant abatements and exemptions to taxpayers, subject to the authority
provided by State law.
The Board of Assessors are elected by the voters
and the Assistant Assessor is hired as an employee by the Board of Assessors.
